With updated geometry for 2022, the Merida Scultura 8000 is the same high-performance road bike you know and love, but now with the most aerodynamic frame ever seen on a Scultura. Comfortable enough for challenging training miles, yet fast and lightweight enough for race day, the CF3 carbon frame now boasts the same race-proven geometry as the Reacto range. With the vibration dampening carbon frame and fork, and the slick Continental GP5000 TR tyres, the Scultura 8000 has you covered whether you’re climbing, descending or just putting the kilometres in.
The Scultura 8000 features the all-new Shimano Ultegra Di2 drivetrain. As a result, you get Shimano’s widest mid-range cassette to date, with the 52-36T crankset and new 11-30T 12-speed cassette really meaning you’ll always be able to find the optimal gear regardless of terrain. As the latest iteration of the Shimano Di2 range, the Ultegra Di2 groupset provides the smoothest and quickest shifting action of any wireless groupset. Alongside the new Ultegra Di2 drivetrain, you receive the new Ultegra Hydraulic Disc Brakes that offer increased modulation and power for enhanced control and confidence on all gradients, terrains and weather conditions. Merida has equipped the Scultura 8000 with Reynolds AR41 DB carbon rims, offering the aerodynamic benefit of 40mm walls, without a significant weight penalty. While the improved tyre clearance of the latest generation Scultura Fork means 700 x 28c Continental GP5000 tyres have been provided for an efficient, smooth-rolling ride. Finally, thanks to Merida’s nifty decision to use the Ultegra Di2 drivetrain, you benefit from the aesthetically pleasing clean cockpit design.
The Merida Scultura 8000 is a high-performing model optimised for climbing, descending, cornering and everything in between. This is all thanks to its class-leading compliance and aerodynamic efficiency which make climbing a breeze while retaining razor-sharp handling. The equipped Shimano Ultegra Hydraulic brakes will fill you with confidence to keep pushing your boundaries regardless of the weather. If you’re looking to get the edge over your competition, the Scultura 8000 offers just that: it’ll be there with you through thick and thin, allowing you to give 100%.
NEW SCULTURA FRAME FAMILY
Newly updated for 2022, the new Scultura frame family incorporates aero details from the award-winning Reacto aero bike making this generation of Scultura the most aerodynamic ever. Now sharing its geometry with the Reacto, the Scultura takes its proven agility, comfort and lightweight design to the next level.
All Scultura models feature a full carbon fork with a tapered steerer to give precise confidence-inspiring steering. Alloy and CF2 carbon models feature a ‘regular’ 1 1/8″ to 1 1/2″ taper. The high-end CF4 frame has a slimmed down front profile and uses a 1 1/8″ to 1 1/4″ taper.
DISC COOLING TECHNOLOGY
A forged aluminium part under the rear disc brake calliper draws heat away through CNC-milled cooling fins giving 35 % less heat build-up and faster temperature reduction for a stable braking performance. Now you can brake with confidence even on long descents.
What do you recommend using the Scultura 8000 for?
This is an extreme, high-performing drop bar road bike, featuring a lightweight and stiff carbon frame that ensures it’s as efficient as it looks. While the all-new Shimano Ultegra Di2 offers the crisp, quick-shifting you expect with the inclusion of an additional gear in your rear cassette for better climbing and spinning efficiency. We recommend the Scultura 8000 for seasoned racers looking to upgrade to a 12-speed drivetrain that demand nothing less than a light and nimble climber.
What makes the Scultura 8000 different?
The Scultura Range has been designed with a lot of technology from Merida’s premium aero performance bike, the Reacto. As a result, the Scultura features the high-end aerodynamic DNA of the Reacto, while still maintaining its place as a light, comfortable and affordable climber.
Who is the Scultura 8000 designed for?
The Merida Scultura 8000 is for riders that demand the very best. This is a fast, lightweight bike that climbs faster and further than ever before. It’s particularly suited to climbers and speed demons alike thanks to its wide-range 2 x 12-speed drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes that mean you can always stop safely. After all, the age-old adage “what goes up, must come down” still applies to riders! If you’re looking to get the edge on your rivals and constantly push your boundaries, especially on extended climbs, then the Scultura 8000 is the perfect model for you.
