The Merida eSpresso City 400 EQ 504Wh Electric Hybrid Bike has been designed to conquer the urban comfort in supreme comfort. Benefitting from Merida’s unique working partnership with Shimano, the latest generation of the eSpresso City range has had the battery integrated in the down tube for a reduction in weight and increased protection for the battery. Similarly, Merida has focused heavily on redesigning the eSpresso City to be their most comfortable city touring model yet! As a result, the maximum tyre width has been increased thanks to the revised fork design and widened seat and chainstays of the rear triangle. As always, the Merida eSpresso City benefits from Shimano’s class-leading E6100 touring motor for smooth, refined performance and unparalleled torque on tap!  

As previously mentioned, Merida has designed the eSpresso City models to cruise around the concrete jungle and offer riders a luxurious ride in the process. So it comes as no surprise that the eSpresso City features an ultra-low step-through for riders. Not only does it make mounting and dismounting the City a breeze, but it also enhances its lower centre of gravity, increasing low-speed stability and thus rider confidence.  While the all-new Merida Massload carrier comes installed as standard, offering an incredible 27kg payload and a nifty integrated rear light so you’re always visible, regardless of the lighting conditions! 

It’d be hard to highlight the Merida eSpresso City’s comfort and versatility without mentioning the incredible Shimano E6100 mid-drive motor which is the real point of difference for the eSpresso range. It offers a huge 60Nm of torque on tap through 5 different assistance modes so you don’t have to worry about steep hills or tired legs. While the high capacity 504Wh battery ensures you have an average range between 100 and 150km making the eSpresso City perfect for daily commutes, nips to the shops or weekend adventures further afield! This is especially true when considering the eSpresso City comes equipped with both a Suntour NEX suspension fork and the Merida Expert TK seatpost which offers additional suspension for a luxurious ride in all weather conditions and terrains.

The Merida eSpresso City wouldn’t be a true city tourer without the extensive list of options that come as standard. To begin with, Sunnywheel SW-FA311-60E1 fenders are installed to prevent water, dirt, and grime from being flicked or splashed onto you, ensuring you remain you dry and clean throughout your journey. Next, you’ll find an Abus Frame Lock located below your seat so you can comfortably lock your eSpresso’s rear wheel so you can comfortably leave your bike outside your local cafe! A Herrmans H-Black MR4 front light has been added to the front fork to light the path ahead and increase your visibility to other road users. Finally, Merida has upgraded the eSpresso City’s brakes to a hydraulic system for increased comfort, performance and ultimately rider confidence.
